Description
This book is jam packed with a multitude of opportunities for off-shoot activities to keep the learning going after the book is done. For younger readers (0-2) there are distinct opportunities to identify shapes, colors, and counting within the book. For the older readers (2-6), they can identify differences and similarities between the two pages of the book, as the same story is told from different families. In the back, there is also an “I Spy” game where readers can look for specific items throughout the book as well as a prompt to facilitate discussion about baby wearing in your own family!
But, there are still more opportunities to extend the learning and this mini-lesson plan add-on is sure to bring out the curiosity in your little one. Choose from three different low cost activities that can have options to increase the scope of the activity pending on time, space, and available resources. For teachers, this book can be used as a thematic week in the following categories – just to name a few:
1. Culture 2. Same/Similar/Different 3. Geography 4. Connection / Emotions 5. Family structure 6. Order of Events 7. Black History Month & Black Children’s Book Week (February) 8. Baby Wearing Week (October)
